CPCB establishes the National Control Room to monitor the enforcement of the SUP ban

Industry Specific ComplianceThe Centre Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on June 30, 2022, established a National Control Room (NCR) to monitor the enforcement of the SUP Ban in accordance with decisions taken by the National Task Force in its 3 Meeting held on June 26, 2022. 

The NCR shall become operational w.e.f. July 01, 2022, and facilitate activities related to the effective implementation of the SUP ban including the following:

a)Provide assistance, guidance, clarification, and information as may be sought by various stakeholders regarding the ban on SUP items, which may include but are not limited to specific items covered under/excluded from SUP Ban, alternatives to banned SUP items, and their availability in the respective. guidance for filing of Complaints on SUP Public Grievance App, guidance for the operation of SUP Compliance Monitoring Portal, issues related to switching over to Alternatives including the issue of Consent/State/UT Registration to Plastic producers (Consent Mechanism/ OCCMS/ Closure Notice/ Renewal) compostable plastic manufacturers: Certification procedure, testing facilities, certified compostable plastic manufacturers.

b)The NCR shall monitor the enforcement of the SUP ban through concerned State Authorities 

c)Coordination of activities related to the Awareness campaign on SUP

The NCR team shall prepare a daily reports based on activities undertaken by CPCB and information submitted by SPCBs/PCCs for submission to MoEF&CC by 5.00 P.M
