TRAI issues Direction to all Broadcasters to ensure compliance of various provisions governing the sector

Industry Specific Complianceclass="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on July 24, 2020 issues directions to all broadcasters to ensure compliance of various provisions of the Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable) Services (Eighth) (Addressable Systems) Tariff (Second amendment) Order, 2020 and the Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable) Services Interconnection (Addressable Systems) (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2020.

It aims to promote growth of the sector and to balance the interest of service providers and to safeguard the interest of the consumers, it is necessary to give effect to Tariff Amendment Order 2020 and Interconnection Amendment Regulations 2020. Hence, TRAI directed all the Broadcasters to report to the Authority, the name, nature, languages, maximum retail prices per month of channels or bouquets of channels or composition of bouquets and also amend Reference Interconnected Offer (RIO) by August 10, 2020.
