The Tamil Nadu Labour and Employment Department has issued the Draft amendments in the Tamil Nadu Factories Rules, 1950.
The following amendments have been made:
• Rule 95(1), item 20, which specifies the handling and processing of asbestos, has been substituted, namely:
“Handing and Processing of asbestos, manufacture of any article or substance of asbestos and any other process of manufacture or otherwise in which asbestos is used in any form.”
• Schedule XX, which specifies the manufacturing of any substance where asbestos is used, has been substituted.
The objection or suggestion, if any, should be addressed in duplicate to the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Labour and Employment Department, Chennai-600 009, through the Director of Industrial Safety and Health, 47/1, Thiru.Vi.Ka.lndustrial Estate, Guindy, Chennai-600 032.
