The State Government of Karnataka on October 15, 2020 has issued the Karnataka Land Revenue (Amendment) Act, 2020 to further amend the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964.
Following are the amendments made in the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964:
• Section 68(2) is amended specifying that any person whose rights have been affected adversely once the State Government has published notification regarding the non-use of road, street, lane or path, or part thereof by the general public, may send objections to the proposal, the nature of his interest or right and the manner in which it is likely to be adversely affected and the amount and particulars of his claim to compensation for such interest or right within one month.
• Section 94-B relating to grant of land in certain cases, subsection (1) clause (iii) is amended stating that any person who has continued to be in actual possession of any land on the date of commencement of the Karnataka Land Revenue (Amendment) Act, 1997, the Deputy Commissioner may within 22 years from the date of commencement of the Karnataka Land Revenue (Amendment) Act, 2000 grant the land to such person.
