The UT Administration of Daman & Diu and the UT Administration Dadra & Nagar Haveli on September 17, 2020 has issued a Circular on the mode of payment of wages. The UT Administrations have notified earlier under Section 6 of the Payment of Wages Act, 1936 that the employers of all the Industries or other establishments in Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli shall be paid wages only by Cheque or by crediting the wages in the Bank Account of the employees.
However, the instances of disbursing the wages to the employees in cash form have been noticed. Therefore, all the industries have been directed to pay the wages only by Cheque or by crediting the wages in the Bank Account of the employees.
