The Labour Department of Punjab have taken various measures to promote ‘Ease of Doing Business’ for the simplification and rationalization of existing rules and introduction of information technology to make governance more efficient and effective.
The measures approved by the Government of Punjab are maintaining registers in electronic form under various Labour Laws as mentioned below and the Rules framed thereunder:

• The Trade Unions Act, 1926;
• The Payment of Wages Act, 1936;
• The Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946;
• The Industrial Disputes Act, 1947;
• The Factories Act, 1948;
• The Minimum Wages Act, 1948;
• The Working Journalists (Conditions of Servive and Misc. Provisions) Act, 1955;
• The Working Journalists (Fixation and Rates of Wages) Act, 1955;
• The Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961;
• The Maternity Benefit Act, 1961;
• The Payment of Bonus Act, 1965;
• The Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970;
• The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972;
• The Equal Remuneration Act, 1976;
• The Sales Promotion Employees (Condition of Service) Act, 1976;
• The Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976;
• The Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and conditions of Services) Act, 1979;
• The Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986;
• The Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Services) Act, 1996;
• The Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Cess Act, 1996;
• Unorganized Workers Social Security Act, 2008;
• The Punjab Shops And Commercial Establishments Act, 1958;
• The Punjab Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1965;
• The Punjab Industrial Establishments (National and Festival Holidays and Casual and Sick Leave) Act, 1965
