The West Bengal Labour Department on December 15, 2020 has issued the West Bengal Legal Metrology (Enforcement) (Amendment) Rules, 2020 to further amend the West Bengal Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011.
The following amendments have been made:
• Rule 11 (2), which specifies the auto-renewal of the licenses, has been substituted, namely:
“All licenses issued to manufacturers, repairers, and dealers of weights and measures shall be renewed automatically upon payment of the requisite fees and submission of the appropriate form set out in Schedule-II-B, for such period as may be applied or notified by the law.”
• Rule 11 (5), which specifies the payment of late fees, has been substituted, namely:
“Provided that the late fees, as may be notified, shall be payable in addition to the license fees, for auto renewal of licenses within 3 months of expiry.”
• Schedule-II-B, which specifies the form for the renewal of licenses, has been appended.
