The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoAFW) on March 09, 2021 has issued the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) (First Amendment) Order, 2021 to further amend the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003 under the Destructive Insects and Pests Act, 1914.
The amendments are made in Schedule VI of the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003, which specify the list of plant material for import with the additional declarations and special conditions, namely:-
1) In Serial No. 262 which specify Pome fruits, the entry has been inserted: -
(ix) South Korea
2) In Serial No, 262 column 2, which specify Pome fruits, the entry has been inserted:-
(v) Quince (Cydonia spp.) for consumption of fresh fruits – South Korea.
3) A new Serial No. 785 which specify Ilex paraguariensis (Yerba mate) has been inserted.
This Order shall come into force on March 10, 2021.
