The Ministry of textiles on June 07, 2022 has issued a notification to extend the validity of certain commodities on minimum percentage of total production of commodity or class of commodities required to be packed in jute packaging material manufactured in India from raw jute produced in India specified in notification no. S.O. 5421(E), dated the 27th December, 2021.
The following amendments have been made in the abovesaid notification:
• In the preamble the paragraph 4 has been amended in order to extend the validity, namely:
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 read with sub-section (1) of section 16 of the Jute Packaging Materials (Compulsory Use in Packaging Commodities) Act, 1987 (10 of 1987), and in supersession of order number S.O. 4250 (E), dated the 26th November, 2020, except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government hereby directs that the commodities specified in column (2) of the Table below, shall be packed in jute packaging material for supply or distribution, in such minimum percentage as specified in corresponding entries in column (3) of the said Table, with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, up to the 30th September, 2022 or until further orders, whichever is earlier (Jute Year 2021-22)
