The Transport, Roads & Building Department, Andhra Pradesh on June 9, 2022 has issued Draft Amendment to the Andhra Pradesh Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
The following has been amended namely: -
• Rule 81 which specifies “Assignment of Registration Number” has the following amendments namely: -
1. Sub-rule (3) has been substituted namely: -
“The registering Authority may on payment made by owner of the vehicle reserve the special numbers within five thousand from the last number assigned in the serial order on the previous day –
i. On payment of fee of Rs. 2,00,000/- (Rupees two lakhs only) for number 9999.
ii. On payment of fee of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only) for any one of the numbers 1,09,999.
2. Sub-rule (4) shall be omitted
3. Sub-rule (5) has been substituted namely: -
“If more than one applicant opts a particular registration number in a day, the reservation shall be made by way of e-bidding (auction). The e-bidding shall be opened from 2 pm to 4 pm on the same day for the applications received on that day upto 1 pm only. The number shall be allotted to the highest offer from those who have applied. If any applicant fails to offer e-bidding 2 pm to 4 pm on the same day, the fee shall be forfeited. The bid amount offered shall not be less than the fees referred to in sub rule (3) (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) (v) (vi) (vii) (viii), as the case may be.”
Objections and Suggestions if any, should be addressed to the Principal Secretary to Government, Transport, Roads and Building Department, within 15 days from June 9, 2022.
