class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; text-align: justify; : normal;">The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on June 13, 2022, Compliance with manuals of the method of analysis published by FSSAI for analyzing the samples of food articles by FSSAI notified laboratories – reg. It has come to the notice of the Food Authority that several FSSAI notified laboratories are not adhering to the testing methods published by FSSAI under different manuals of the method of analysis for analyzing the samples of food articles.
In this connection, it is hereby clarified that as per the Food Safety and Standards (Rules),2011, all the FSSAI notified laboratories shall use the manuals of the method of analysis, as amended/adopted by the Food Authority from time to time including AOAC/ ISO/Pearson’s/Jacob/IUPAC/Food Chemicals CODEX/BIS/Woodmen/Winton-Winton/Joslyn, for analyzing the samples of food articles. However, in case the method for analyzing any parameter is not available in these manuals, a validated method of analysis prescribed by internationally recognized/analytical/regulatory agencies shall be adopted
Labs are required to use only approved methods for testing that has been verified in-house/ on-site to ensure that the test gives proper result. Any issue related to these specified methods may be forwarded to FSSAI (HQ) for further examination.
