The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) on July 02, 2022, Under Hazardous and Other Waste Management and Transboundary Traffic) Rule-2016, as per L-19, 7 different copies of the manifest have to be made during transportation of hazardous waste, out of which (Copy 1) of the manifest is waste.
The Board has implemented an online manifest system to streamline the monitoring system of transportation of hazardous waste which is fully implemented in a mandatory and competent manner for the unit. The requirement of depositing that copy of the manifest at the SPCB under the rule, when the manifest can be digitally retrieved through the online manifest system operating on XGN and as per the requirement, the hard copy of the above manifest copy 1 and 5 being deposited by the industry is of direct importance. No and “Duplication of Submission* appears to be taking place and avoidable unnecessary use of large amounts of paper.
In addition, efforts are being made by the Board to promote the reduction of paper consumption
A decision is made as follows for the manifest record.
1. Physical copy/hard copy of manifestly made online deposited in the board in case of hazardous waste originating from state industries and disposed of at an authorized facility industry in the state, there is no need to do it.
2. If the hazardous waste has been transported and finally disposed of in other states, Actual User/Cement of other states. Physical copy/hard of manifest following the procedure as per rules after final disposal by Industry
A copy has to be deposited on the board.
