The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) on July 15, 2022 has issued a notification on the recommendation of the committee which states that the electricity duty is not part of consumption charges as defined in Regulation 6 of 2004, the inclusion of the electricity duty in ASD is not proper and legal.
APERC decided that the distribution companies (DISCOMS) not to include the electricity duty while arriving at an additional security deposit (ASD) to be collected from the electricity consumers. The additional security deposit (ASD) demands already raised by including the electricity duty on consumers shall be corrected immediately and report compliance.
