The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoAFW) on August 3, 2022 has issued Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) (Third Amendment) Order, 2022 to further amend the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003. This has come into force on August 3, 2022.
The following has been amended under Schedule VI namely: -
• Items such as Pome fruits (Apple, Pear (Pyrus spp.) and Quince (Cydonia spp.)under Serial No. 262 has been deleted
• Items has been inserted under 262 namely; South Africa
• Against Serial number 293 the following has been inserted namely: -
1. Prunus avium (Sweet cherry)
