The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) on August 24, 2022, issued the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022. These rules will be applicable to Producers, Dealers, Consumers, and entities involved in the collection, segregation, transportation, refurbishment, and recycling of Waste Batteries.

• Centralised Online Portal
• Schedule I Prohibitions and Labelling Requirements
• Schedule II Targets for Extended Producer Responsibility
• Form 1(A) Application to be submitted for grant or renewal of registration as a Producer
• Form 1(B) Format for grant of registration to Producer by Central Pollution Control Board
• Form 1 (C) Format for submission of Extended Producer Responsibility plan by the Producer
• Form 2(A) Application to be submitted by recycler or refurbisher for grant of one time registration
• Form 2(B) Format for grant of registration to recycler or refurbisher by State Pollution Control Boards
• Form 3 Annual returns to be submitted by Producer by 30th day of June of the following financial year
• Form 4 Quarterly return to be submitted by recycler or refurbisher to State Pollution Control Boards by end of the month succeeding the end of the quarter
The rules shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
