The Government of Thiruvananthapuram on August 26, 2022 has issued a press release regarding the last date for submission of option for Goods and Services Tax Department Amnesty Scheme 2022.
The highlights are as follows:
• The last date for submission of option for Goods and Services Tax Department Amnesty Scheme 2022 will end on August 31.
• Amnesty announced the scheme to settle the arrears under the existing tax laws like Kerala Value Added Tax, Central Sales Tax, Agricultural Income Tax, General Sales Tax, Luxury Tax and Surcharge, which existed before the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax Act.
• Penalty and interest are 100% waived but under the Kerala General Sales Tax Act only penalty is waived for arrears after 2005.
• Those who pay the dues together will get 40 percent of the tax dues and those who pay in installments will get 30 percent relief.
• The amnesty is applicable to cases which have been appealed to the courts and cases which have been appealed to the departmental level.
• Dues details of traders are available on the website of the Goods and Services Tax Department.
• To submit the option visit the official website of the tax department www.keralataxes.gov.in and take one time registration.
• It is also possible to calculate the dues on an annual basis and submit a separate option for each year. Traders can submit the option if the dues given on the website are correct
If any corrections are required then the option can be submitted after making the corrections. Dues can be collected online after the said option is verified and approved by the taxing authority. The Commissioner of the State Goods and Services Tax Department has informed that he is not thinking of extending the amnesty scheme.
