The Ministry of Textiles on July 29, 2022 has issued Notification regarding BIS standard on VSF as QCO.
The following has been stated namely: -
• BIS Standards for Viscose Staple Fibre has to be made mandatory. All the Viscose staple fibre manufacturing plants in India have been issued the BIS license on the explicit condition that they will mark entire/substantial production which conforms to the Indian standards.
• After receiving the comments and revising the Draft QCO, it has been vetted by the Ministry of Law and Justice and has been found formally in order.
• The QCO has to be notified on WTO and a time limit of 60 days has been set to receive comments.
