The Government of Assam on September 20, 2022, issued a notification that no permission from the Forest will be required for felling, conversion, and transportation of the tree species, grown on non-forest land and when used as shade trees in the Tea gardens in the State of Assam.
The following tree species have been exempted:
• Akashmoni (Acacia auriculiformis),
• Mokka Teteli (Samanea saman),
• Derris robusta,
• Grevillea robusta,
• Subabool (Leucaena leucocephala),
• Putranjiva (Putranjiva roxburghii),
• Ronga chandan (Adenanthera pavonina),
• Bottle brush (Callistemon viminalis),
• Radhachura (Cassia javanica),
• Karpur (Cinnamomum camphora), 1
• Som (Machilus gamblei),
• Ghoraneem (Melia azaderach),
• Siris (Albizia lebbeck) and
• Manipuri Urohi (Parkia roxburghii).
