The Government of Sikkim on July 11, 2022, revises Minimum Wages for scheduled employees under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 vide Notification No.11/DL dated September 15, 2017.
The following revised rates of minimum wages shall be applicable -
1. For Unskilled employees daily wage is Rs.500.
2. For Semiskilled employees daily wage is Rs.520.
3. For Skilled employees daily wage is Rs.535.
4. For Highly Skilled employees daily wage is Rs.565.
•Un-Skilled Workers includes Chowkidar (Watchman), Peon, Safaikarmachari, Waiter, Cleaner Packer, Helper, Office boy, Nursery, watcher Earth digger, Shop assistant, Service boy, Jail workers (Cement Concrete pipes), Bull caretaker, caretaker Dog catcher, Dresser, (Poultry) Dairy caretaker, Field worker, Grasscutter.
•Semi-Skilled includes Assistant fitter (Mechanic), Assistant blacksmith, Assistant goldsmith, Assistant welder, Assistant painter, Polisher, Gatekeeper, Booking Assistant, Earth breaker, Rock excavator Hole driller Spray man, Stonebreaker, Storekeeper Switch man, Duplicating machine operator, Salesman, Pressman (Metallic) Castingwala (Metallic), Cutter (Metallic), Circle cutter (Metallic), Assistant Mistry (Motor body building), Tyre and tube mistry, Lineman/ Assistant lineman, Assistant switchboard operator, Assistant turbine operator, Compressor operator, Crane operator, Engine Operator, Field Assistant, Field enumerator, Filter operator, Lathe man, Meter reader-cum-bill clerk Mechanic, Stone crusher operator, Supervisor, Switch yard attendant Switch.
•Skilled include Electrician, Pipe Fitter, Carpenter, Mason Spray painter, Litho machine man, Radioman for offset machine, Line operator Mono operator, Composer Cook, Quality controller, Turner Moulder, Plant operator Masson, Machine man, Chemist Chemical analyst, Blender, Foreman, Boiler attendant, Operator (cinema) Air conditioner operator, Munshi, Cutter (timber), Laboratory technician, Radiographer, Radio/TV/Computer mechanic, Photo artist Manager (petrol pump), Technical Supervisor, Compositor, Binder Computer operator, Dancer/singer/musician, Kang-so-pa, Demand clerk Draughtsman, Handmade paper worker.
•Highly Skilled include Heavy vehicle driver, Bulldozer operator/driver Excavator operator/Roller driver, Plumber/Welder/Foreman/Electrician/Draughtsman/Computer Mechanic having a Diploma, J.C.B Driver Certificate. Security Guard (8 years experience with minimum Graduation or Ex-Army in the Rank of JCO), or any other categories by whatever name called which are of a Highly Skilled Nature.
