Industry Specific ComplianceThe Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on October 11, 2022 has issued Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Second Amendment Regulations, 2022 to further amend Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020. This has come into force on May 01, 2023.

The following has been stated namely: -

• In Schedule II in paragraph (1) in sub-paragraph (3) in the table for Sl. No. 1 which states Pan Masala, the following has been substituted namely: -

“Chewing of Pan Masala Is Injurious to Health, note: The warning statement must cover 50% of front-of-pack of the label”;”

• In the Schedule II paragraph 2 which states “Specific requirements/restrictions on manner of labelling” after sub para 2.5 the following has been inserted namely: -

“Labelling of various types of bread”
