The Government of Kerala on September 12, 2022, revised the minimum rate of wages payable to the classes of employees employed in Water transport employment other than motor boat transport.
The following minimum rate of wages have been revised:
• For Vanchi, Vallam, and Changadam rowers, the daily basic wage is Rs.790/-
• For Helpers, the daily basic wage is Rs.720/-
The employees will be eligible for Dearness Allowance calculated based on the Consumer Price Index published for the concerned District Headquarters by the Department of Economics and Statistics for the increase in every point above 165 points in the new series, ic. 2011-12-100 at the rate of Rs 2.30/-, in addition to the rate of daily basic wages.
The following general conditions have been stated:
• In case the employees of any establishment/Industry are at present getting higher wages than the minimum wages fixed as per this notification, they shall be entitled to get such higher rates.
• In case any post or category of an establishment is not included in the schedule above, such an employee shall be eligible for the basic wages prescribed for the equivalent post/category.
• The monthly wage in respect of the daily wage category may be fixed by multiplying the daily wage by 26 and the daily wage in respect of the monthly wage category may be fixed by dividing the monthly wage by 26.
The said proposal will be taken up for consideration on or after 2 months from the date of publication of this notification in the official Gazette and the objections and suggestions if any, that may be received from any person with respect to the said proposal on or before the time limit specified above, will be considered by the Government.
