The Government of Kerala on August 04, 2022, fixed the minimum rates of wages payable to the employees employed in the Media Sector.
The following have been stated:
• In the schedule, various classes of employees in the media sector and their Monthly Basic wages have been stated.
• In addition to the rate of basic pay, employees are also entitled to Dearness Allowance, which is calculated based on the Consumer Price Index published for the relevant District Headquarters by the Department of Economics and Statistics, at a rate of Rs.26/- (Rupees Twenty-Six only) for monthly waged employees and Rs.1/- (Rupee One only) for daily waged employees for increases in every point above 350 points in the new series, i.e. 1998-99-100.
• The Employees who have at least 5 years of continuous service in an establishment or under an employer as of the date this notification goes into effect are eligible for service weightage, which is 1% of the basic wage at the revised rate for each year of service completed, up to a maximum of 15%, including the basic wage.
The following conditions have been stated:
• In case the employees of any establishment/Industry are at present getting higher wages than the minimum wages fixed as per this notification, they shall be entitled to get such higher rates.
• In case any post or category is not included in the schedule above, they shall be eligible for the basic wages prescribed for the equivalent post/category.
• The daily wages in respect of the category of employees for whom monthly wage is fixed as per this notification may be calculated by dividing the monthly wages by 26.
The minimum rate of wages will come into effect from August 04, 2022.
