Industry Specific ComplianceThe Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on October 13, 2022 has issued the Indian Telegraph (Amendment) Rules, 2022 to further amend the Indian Telegraph Rules, 1951. This has come into force on October 13, 2022.

The following has been stated namely: -

• In Rule 525(2) the following has been inserted namely: - 

"(q) for operation and maintenance, first line maintenance and utilisation of Bharat Net (Except State led model under Phase-II) through Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, operational expenditure charges for said operation and maintenance, first line maintenance of Bharat Net Phase-I network shall be funded by Universal Service Obligation Fund for a period of two years." 

• In rule 526 of the said rules, for the words, brackets and letters "(o) and (p) of clause (v)", the words, brackets and letters "(o), (p) and (q) of clause (v)" shall be substituted.
