The Labour Department, Odisha on October 19, 2022, issued a notification regarding the revision of the Minimum wages with the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) and notified that the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) at the rate of Rs. 7.00 per day shall be payable to the unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled categories of employees in all 89 scheduled employments.
Some of the scheduled employments are- agriculture, agarbati and candle making worker's establishments, automobile servicing, repairing garages and workshops, ayurvedic and Unani pharmacies, bakeries, and confectionaries including biscuit making, bamboo forest establishment, brass and bell metal industry, carpet weaving industry cashew processing establishments, cement pipe making and allied products industry, ceramic, and pottery industry, chemical industry, cinema industry, and film production, clay pottery, coir industry collection of sal seeds, construction or maintenance of dams, embankments, irrigation projects and sinking of wells and tanks, construction or maintenance of roads or in building operations, contingent and casual employees in govt. and other establishments, courier and cargo services, cotton ginning and pressing industry, dispensary of medical practitioners in any establishment of medical consultant or in any chemical or pathological laboratory, private nursing homes, private medical college hospitals, super specialty hospitals, clinics, laboratory, petrol and diesel oil pumps, pharmaceutical industry.
The following rates along with the VDA shall be applicable:
• For Un-Skilled the minimum wage rate is Rs. 333/ day
• For Semi-Skilled the minimum wage rate is Rs. 373/day
• For Skilled the minimum wage rate is Rs. 423/day
• For Highly Skilled the minimum wage rate is Rs. 483/day
These rates shall be applicable from October 01, 2022.
