The University Grants Commission (UGC) on October 20, 2022, issued a notification directing all higher educational institutions and their affiliated colleges and institutions are requested to carry out the above activities with the active participation of their faculty members, staff, and students from October 25 to 31, 2022 as October 31 is celebrated as ‘Unity Day’ to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known for his supreme patriotism, iron will, and courage of conviction.
On October 31, 2022, Run for Unity is to be organized from 07.00 AM to 08.00 AM. It is envisaged to organize 75,000 Unity runs across India, including 100 runs per district. A microsite is being developed where individuals participating in the Unity run may be encouraged to upload their selfies.
The following activities may also be carried out:
•Cycle and motorbike rallies may be organized involving the active participation of volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Kendras (NYKs) to amplify outreach of the celebrations of Unity week.
•Special assemblies in higher educational institutions and colleges dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, along with conducting debates, quizzes & various competitions on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
•Curate a special exhibition on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, which may be made available in regional languages. The link to the open-source files for the same will be provided soon.
