The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) on October 26, 2022, issued a notification regarding the constitution of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Satellite Network Clearance (IMC-SNC), also known as the Apex Committee.
The IMC-SNC members include DDG (Satellite), DoT, Director (SATCOM-PO), DoS, I&B Ministry representative, DDG (Radio), TEC, DDG (NOCC), DoT, Sr. DWA (Satellite), WPC, and Director (Satellite), DoT.
The IMC-SNC will examine proposals for telecom & broadcasting networks and services on satellite media from regulatory as well as technical angles. It is responsible for reviewing proposals from companies with the requisite satellite-based network license.
Any organization seeking to create or run a satellite-based communication network, service commercial, or captive must submit an application for in-principle approval to the Satellite Licensing Division of the DoT in accordance with the requirements of the guidelines for obtaining Captive VSAT CUG License and guidelines for establishing satellite-based communication network.
The IMC-SNC will examine the proposal, which will meet approximately once a month. It will examine the proposal for compliance with the relevant TEC Interface Requirements to ensure interference-free operations of the proposed network without causing any harm to existing networks.
This letter supersedes the earlier letter on the subject related to Apex Committee dated no. 59-190/2018-SAT dated March 24, 2021.
