The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on December 22, 2022, issued a notification regarding setting up Social Stock Exchange (SSE) as a separate segment.
The following has been stated namely: -
• NSE received in-principle approval from the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on December 19, 2022, to set up a Social Stock Exchange (SSE) as a separate segment of the NSE.
• A proposal was made to create a Social Stock Exchange, under the regulatory ambit of securities and the Exchange Board of India for listing social enterprises and voluntary organizations working for the realization of a social welfare objective so that they can raise capital as equity, debt or as units like a mutual fund.
• A new security “Zero Coupon Zero Principal (ZCZP)” has been declared. This can be publicly or privately issued by Not for Profit upon registering with the Social Stock Exchange segment of NSE.
