Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on January 23, 2023, issued a notification on Clarification regarding the Implementation of the Paper Import Monitoring System (PIMS).

The following issues have been clarified namely: -

• Registration under PIMS shall be mandatory regardless of the mode of transportation.

• Import consignment of samples for FOB value of Rs. 10,000/- irrespective of the quantity, shall be exempted from the requirement of compulsory registration under PIMS

• Registration under PIMS shall be compulsory regardless of the purpose of imports of paper products since paper products are not small volumes/high goods.
