The Government of Tamil Nadu on January 12, 2023, introduced the bill Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Amendment Act, 2023 to further amend Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act, 1987.
The following has been amended-
•In section 33 of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act, 1987, in the proviso to sub-section (1), for the expression “eleven years and six months”, the expression “ twelve years and six months “ shall be substituted.
•Repeal and saving
(1) The Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Second Amendment Ordinance, 2022 is hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the principal Act, as amended by the said Ordinance, shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the principal Act, as amended by this Act.
Notwithstanding anything contained in the principal Act, every person exercising the powers and discharging the functions of a Special Officer of the market committees, with effect on and from the 30th day of November 2022, shall be deemed to have been appointed as such Special Officer under sub-section (1) of section 33 of the principal Act, as amended by this Act, and anything done or any action taken by the said Special Officers during the period commencing on November 30, 2022, and ending with December 15, 2022, shall be deemed to have been validly done or taken under the principal Act, as amended by this Act.
It shall be deemed to have come into force on November 30, 2022.
