Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Madhya Pradesh on February 08, 2023, issued a notification defining foreign, heritage and country liquor.

The following has been stated namely:

• The liquor which is imported by sea, air into any state of India and is liable to importation duty under the Indian Tariff Act, 1984 or the Sea Customs Act, 1878 or which is manufactured or compounded in India and made to resemble imported liquor will be considered as Foreign liquor.

• Any liquor whose heritage spirit is made from mahua flowers only or which contains natural additives for human consumption or which is determined by the Excise commissioner for heritage liquor or which is notified for pot still liquor will be considered as Heritage liquor.

• Potable liquor other than foreign and heritage liquor will be considered as Country liquor.

The notification has come into force on February 08, 2023.
