The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on February 21, 2023, amended the import policy condition of cashew kernels (broken) under ITC (IIS) Code 08013210 and cashew kernel (whole) under ITC(IIS) Code 08013220 under Chapter-08 of ITC (IIS) 2022, Schedule 1 (Import Policy)
The following have been stated namely: -
• In ITC Code 08013210 which states “Cashew kernel, broken” the revised policy states as follows namely: -
(i) import is free if the CIF value is above Rs. 680/- per Kg.
(ii) MIP conditions, however, shall not be applicable for imports by 100% Export Oriented Units (IOUs) and units in the SEZ
(iii) SEZs and EoUs units shall not be allowed to sell the imported Cashew Kernels into Domestic Tariff Area (DTA)
• In ITC Code 08013220 which states “Cashew kernel, whole” the revised policy states as follows namely: -
(i) import is free if the CIF value is above Rs. 720/- per Kg.
(ii) MIP conditions, however, shall not be applicable for imports by 100% Export Oriented Units (IOUs) and units in the SEZ
(iii) SEZs and EoUs units shall not be allowed to sell the imported Cashew Kernels into Domestic Tariff Area (DTA)
It states that the Minimum Import Price (MIP) on Cashew kernel (broken / whole) will not be applicable for imports by 100% Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and units in the SEZs subject to the condition that the imported Cashew Kernels are not sold into Domestic Tariff Area.
