The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, (CBIC) on February 21, 2023, issued a circular regarding amending Circular No. 26/ 2016 – Customs dated June 09, 2016, which provides a Form of application for a Licence under Public Warehousing Licensing Regulations, 2016 / Private Warehousing Regulations, 2016 / Special Warehousing Regulations, 2016
The following has been amended namely: -
• In Para 4.1 which provides for a centralized system of antecedent verification of the applicants of the license under the said regulations the following sentence at the end of Para 4.1 shall be inserted namely: -
“The antecedent verification HMV be completed within 45 clays of receipt of the application”
• It also directs that the board shall ensure that every prescribed requirement is complied with properly by the applicant and thoroughly checked by the officers concerned.
