Punjab Food grains Labour and Cartage Policy 2023
The Government of Punjab on February 24, 2023, notified Punjab Food grains Labour and Cartage Policy 2023.
It shall be applicable to all labor operations carried out at storage centers, railheads, and PEG godowns throughout the State of Punjab up to March 31, 2024.
It shall be applicable to all Cartage operations involved in the carriage of food grains and stock articles from mandis/railheads to various storage points, including rice mills, or from any place to any place within 8 km distance of such mandis and/or storage points.
It shall be applicable to all State procurement agencies in the State of Punjab & Food Corporation of India (FCI), involved in procuring food grains for the Central pool or the State pool.
During the year 2023, works of food grain transportation, Labour, and Cartage of food grains will be allotted through a competitive and transparent online tender system. The Punjab government has sought an upward revision of 25% in wages of laborers from the Food Corporation of India. However, the central agency has allowed only 20% due to which the state government has agreed to a gap funding of 5% to secure the rights of laborers for which the state government will spend Rs 7-8 crore.
