FSSAI issued a notification in regards to Deploying Food Safety on Wheels (FSW) for checking of adulteration in milk in the country

Industry Specific ComplianceThe Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on March 03, 2023, issued a notification in regards to Deploying Food Safety on Wheels (FSW) for checking of adulteration in milk in the country.

The following have been stated namely: -

•168 Food Safety on Wheels (FSW) mobile food testing labs are available with the State/UTs for carrying out the spot food testing for various food products including milk and milk products.

•The test of the milk & milk products which can be carried out through the ‘Milk-o-Screen’ system installed in FSWs are: 1) Fat, 2) SNF (Solid-Not-Fat), 3) Protein, 4) Adulterants: a) Added water, b) Urea, c) Sucrose, d) Maltodextrin, e) Ammonium sulphate. 

•Further, considering the ensuing festive season of Holi, it is requested to ensure that testing of at least 10 samples of milk and/or milk products is carried out through every FSW on daily basis under your respective jurisdictions to check the adulteration of milk and milk products in the country. The said testing facility shall be carried out free of cost and the activities be monitored by the respective jurisdictional Designated Officers at the end of every month.
