The Government of Manipur on February 19, 2021, published the Manipur Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland (Amendment) Bill, 2021 to further amend the Manipur Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act, 2014
This shall be deemed to have come into force from October 14, 2023
The following has been amended namely: -
• In section 3 which states “Prohibition on conversion or reclamation of paddy land”
(i) For (.), (:) shall be substituted
(ii) The following proviso shall be inserted namely: -
“Provided that agricultural land already diverted without the approval of the government before commencement of this Act shall be dealt with under section 20 of the Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms Act 1960.”
• The Manipur Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 is hereby repealed.
“Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the said ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provisions of this Act.”
