The Government of Kerala on March 24, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Increase in tax exemption limit for houses up to 650 square feet.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Houses up to 650 square feet (60 square meters) are now exempt from tax, unlike Previously, when only houses up to 30 square meters for BPL categories were eligible for exemption.
• Only one house per person can be exempted, and multi-storey buildings under the LIFE and Punargeham projects will also be eligible.
• Flats and villas are not eligible for the exemption.
• This policy aims to provide relief to homeowners with smaller houses and encourage affordable housing construction.
