The Government of Manipur on March 15, 2023, issued the Manipur Minor Mineral Concession (Second Amendment) Rules, 2022 to further amend the Manipur Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 2012.
The following has been stated: -
•In rule 39 which states ‘Condition of quarrying Lease’, in sub-rule (5) after clause (b), the following shall be inserted:
“(c) Only manual mining will be permitted; no machinery will be allowed in river bed mining;
(d) The depth of mining shall be restricted to 3m/water level, whichever is less;
(e) Breach of terms and conditions of the river bed mining will result in the cancellation or determination of the lease".
•In Rule 42 which states ‘Rights of Lessee’ and PART-II, PART-VII, PART-IX in FORM-H has been amended.
They shall come into force on March 15, 2023.
