The Dehradun Municipal Corporation on February 20, 2023, issued instructions regarding segregation and disposal of solid waste in all kinds of institutions on its own.
The following instructions have been stated:
• From time to time, all cinema halls, malls, shopping complexes, hotels and restaurants, cafes, mobile food counters/chains, caterers, wedding/party halls, meat shops, fruit and vegetable markets, etc. produced in their establishments under Dehradun Municipal Corporation area. According to the Solid Waste Management Rules-2016, the solid waste will have to be segregated and disposed of on its own.
• The High Rise Apartments/Multi Floor Residential Society with more than 50 residences/residential units will also have to dispose of the waste by separating dry-wet.
• The dry waste/plastic waste is being segregated by the institutions as mentioned above, should be made available directly to the recycler.
• For better management of waste, composting or other valid methods by separating wet waste/organic waste to all the above mentioned institutions coming under the category of Bulk Waste Generator have to deal with themselves.
• For this, all the institutions will have to provide the action plan to the Corporation within 20 days of the publication of this notice by the Municipal Corporation, Dehradun, after that the implementation of the above instructions will also have to be done within a month. Failure to do so will result in a fine/challan as follows, for which entire responsibility will be on the concerned party himself: -
o For not giving the action plan within 15 days, the first fine will be fixed at Rs.5000/- (Rupees five thousand only) and thereafter a fine of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) each time.
o In case of non-implementation of action plan in one month after submission and approval, a fine of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) for the first time and Rs. 20,000/- (Rupees twenty thousand only) thereafter will be fixed each time.
