The Ministry of Textiles on April 12, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Protective Textiles (Quality Control) Order, 2022
This Order shall come into force 180 days after its publication in the Official Gazette
The following has been stated namely: -
• This order shall be applicable to the following goods or articles namely: -
(i) Curtains and Drapes
(ii) Upholstered composites used for non-domestic furniture
(iii) Protective clothing for firefighters
(iv) Protective gloves for firefighters
(v) Protective clothing for industrial workers exposed to heat
(vi) Clothing made of limited flame spread materials and material assemblies affording protection against heat and flame
(vii) High visibility Warning Clothes
(viii) Protective Clothing for use in welding and allied processes
(ix) Tactical 3-point sling
(x) Pouch for ammunition and grenades made of disruptive pattern nylon-66
(xi) Bullet-resistant jackets
(xii) Water-proof multipurpose rain poncho
• This order shall not be applicable to such goods or articles meant for export
• It states that the goods or article specified shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard specified and shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
• The Bureau shall be the certifying and enforcing authority in respect of the goods or articles specified.
• it states that in case any person who contravenes the provisions of this Order shall be punishable in accordance with the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016
