The Ministry of Textiles on April 12, 2023, issued the Geo Textiles (Quality Control) Order, 2022, after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards and will come into force after 180 days from its publication in the official Gazette.
The following provisions have been stated:
• This Order will apply to goods or articles specified in the Schedule annexed to this Order, but shall not apply to such goods or articles meant for export.
• The goods or articles specified in the Schedule shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard specified thereof and shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
• The Bureau shall be the certifying and enforcing authority in respect of the goods or articles specified in the Schedule.
• Any person who contravenes the provisions of this Order shall be punishable in accordance with the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
The Schedule specifies the Goods or articles, Indian Standard (IS), and Title of Indian Standard.
