The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on April 17, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Aadhaar implementation in ESIC.
The following has been stated namely: -
• An employer can seed Aadhaar Number while registering an Employee.
• After authentication of the Aadhaar, the personal details of the employee will get auto-populated in the system. Also, by providing consent, the ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) No. of the employee will also be generated on the basis of provided Aadhaar Number.
• ABHA number is a unique identity and shall identify a person, and update his health records across multiple Healthcare service providers.
• The User manual has been attached to the notification, it states:
1. The demographic details will be captured for new IP Registration through the e-KYC process of UIDAI. The demographic details will be validated through the e-KYC process. The Aadhaar/VID number will be authenticated through OTP/Biometric authentication (using Fingerprint or Iris).
2. The purpose of seeding the Aadhaar/VID and displaying the Aadhaar Status are mentioned below-
a. To prevent fraudulent activities in financial transactions.
b. Aadhaar Status can be used to merge the contribution of a duplicate insured person.
c. Aadhaar Status can be used to perform the DE duplication process and prevent a duplicate IP number generation.
d. Aadhaar Status can be used to perform the e-KYC; post e-KYC system will have the UIDAI verified demographic details of the beneficiaries.
e. Aadhaar Status can be used to authenticate the beneficiaries at the time of service delivery
