
The Ministry of Coal (MoC) on April 24, 2023, issued the action plan of the coal ministry for FY 2023-24.
It is stated that the ministry is setting new records for coal production and ensuring a sufficient coal supply for the nation's thermal power plants and other industries. Some of the outstanding accomplishments of the coal sector in 2022 included bringing forward creative policy measures to significantly boost India's energy security. Other notable highlights of the Coal Ministry's accomplishments during the year included record coal production of 780 million tonnes (provisional), the successful auctioning of 64 coal mines so far under transparent commercial coal mine auction, holding Investors' Conclaves across the nation, and signing crucial MoUs for Coal Gasification projects with elite companies like BHEL, IOCL, and GAIL (India).
The Coal Ministry made noteworthy progress in 2022 in areas such as land acquisition, new technology deployment, increased emphasis on sustainable development, and just transition.
