The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on April 27, 2023, issued a circular regarding the institution of the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in Multidisciplinary Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)
ITEP allows the student to obtain a degree in education as well as in a discipline, i.e. arts/science/commerce. ITEP is a 4 year dual-major holistic undergraduate degree program offering B.AB.Ed/ B.ScB.Ed and B.Com B.Ed.
This course will induct highly qualified teachers as it prepares them for the 4 stages of the new school structure, i.eFoundational, Preparatory, Middle and Secondary (5+3+3+4)In addition, this course will be beneficial for the students as he/she will complete this course in 4 years, which previously would have taken 5 years, thereby saving one precious year.
National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 is also revamping and strengthening Teacher Education in India, ITEP will be well-versed in the latest advances in education and technology while being grounded in Indian values, languages, knowledge-ethos and traditions.
All multidisciplinary higher education Institutions, particularly those rated A and above by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council may be encouraged to initiate the ITEP programme in their InstitutionsFor this purpose, they may like to get in touch with Member SecretaryNCTE at [email protected]
