EHS ComplianceThe Government of Goa on May 11, 2023, notified regarding the administering of the Rainwater Harvesting Policy to collect the rainwater falling on the roof of houses/buildings located on a single plot of land and storing the collected water in underground or overground storage container/tanks/cisterns for continuous use/consumption by the users/occupants of the houses/buildings.

It is stated that the use of Aadhaar as an identity document for the delivery of services or benefits or subsidies simplifies the Government delivery processes, brings in transparency and efficiency, and enables beneficiaries to get their entitlements directly in a convenient and seamless manner by obviating the need to produce multiple documents to prove one’s identity.

Further, it is stated that the subsidy is provided by the Implementing Agency as per the extant scheme guidelines upon the incorporation of the Rainwater Harvesting structure on a reimbursement basis.

The following shall be provided to different user groups at the rates mentioned below: —

• Individual households/Residential houses: Upto 50% of the cost incurred for incorporation of the rainwater harvesting system or Rs. 1,00,000 (Rupees one lakh only) whichever is less.

• Residential complexes/apartments/ buildings/privates housing societies/private schools/colleges: Upto 50% of the cost incurred for incorporation of the rainwater harvesting system or Rs. 5,00,000.00 (Rupees five lakhs only) whichever is less.

• For Commercial complexes, Industries, and hospitality businesses: Upto 50% of the cost incurred for incorporation of the rainwater harvesting structures or Rs. 5,00,000/- (Rupees five lakhs only) whichever is less.

• For a registered group of farmers/youth clubs/NGOs under a community participatory programme: Upto 80% of the cost incurred towards implementation of the rainwater harvesting structure such as the construction of traditional kutcha bunds, development of lakes, etc. or Rs. 5,00,000/- (Rupees five lakhs only) whichever is less.

• For the construction of Rainwater harvesting pits: For the construction of rainwater harvesting pits of size 1.00 Mts. x 1.00 mts. x 0.60 mts. in the agricultural/ open/orchard land holding which is over 1000 sq. mts. in a cluster of minimum 20 pits/ 1000 m2, subsidy at a flat rate of Rs. 50/- per pit, subject to a financial ceiling of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only) per applicant.

• For groundwater recharge through borewells/tubewells/open wells: Upto 50% of the cost incurred or Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only) whichever is less.
