The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) on May 12, 2023, issued a press release regarding the “Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi” program an Early Childhood Care and Education program under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0
The following has been stated namely: -
• This program aims to ensure holistic development of children under the age of 6 years, with a focus on building skills in key development domains identified under NEP
• It states regarding the implementation of new teaching material (TLM) and the significance of creating inclusive teaching and learning materials in order to develop ECCE methodologies for Divyang children and to enable Anganwadi workers to advise parents to send their children to Anganwadi centers.
• It states regarding the creation of indigenous and DIY toys with locally and easily available materials like wood, cloth, mud, clay, etc. that has brought Anganwadi centers under the National Action Plan for Toys (NAPT)
• it states that 2 hours per day of ECCE instruction in the mother tongue in Anganwadi centers shall be consistent with the state curriculum and the National Curriculum Framework.
• it further stated the need for early stimulation for children aged 0 to 3 and the need to transform Anganwadi centers into exciting learning environments that kids would eagerly attend.
