The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on May 16, 2023, seeks public comments/suggestions on the Consultation Paper on Expanding Definition of Qualified Institutional Buyers for Debt Securities.
The SEBI has been receiving representations that the definition of the term ‘QIB’ has to be expanded to increase the potential investor base for debt securities issuers and further develop the debt markets. Hence it is thought fit to seek comments from the public on whether the current definition of QIBs can be expanded on the lines outlined in this consultation paper.
The comments/suggestions on the Consultation Paper have to be submitted latest by May 29, 2023. The complete consultation paper is attached to the document.
