The Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on May 22, 2023, issued a circular in reference to the extension of the ESIC Scheme to the Casual/Contractual workers under Municipal Corporation/Municipal Bodies under the control of the State Government/UT Administration.
The State Administrations of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Jharkhand have issued the final notification as per Section 1(5) of the ESI Act, 1948 dated February 21, 2023, April 19, 2023, and February 04, 2021, respectively for the extension of coverage of the ESIC scheme to the Casual and Contractual workers engaged under Municipal Corporations and Municipal Councils in the respective States/Union Territories.
