The University Grants Commission (UGC) on May 29, 2023, notified regarding the Implementation of Guidelines for Gender Champions in Educational institutions to promote gender equality, guaranteed by Article 15 of the Indian Constitution, there is a need to change the mode of interaction at all levels- home, school, college, University workplace, and so on.
The Gender Champions can be both boys and transgender above 16 years of age enrolled in educational institutions. Gender Champions envies responsible leaders who will facilitate an enabling environment within their schools/colleges/academic ins where girls are treated with dignity and respect.
It is requested to ensure swift implementation of the 'Guidelines for Gender Champions Educational Institutions (available on the UGC website) in your Esteemed University and also in the affiliated Co in the best interest of students so as to achieve long-term sustainable change. The Ministry of Women a Development, Government of India has come out with a badge for Gender Champion which is available on its and also on My GovPortal.
