The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on May 18, 2023, issued the Guidelines for Child and Adolescent Participation in the Entertainment Industry
The following has been stated namely: -
• The scope of these Guidelines shall cover television programs including but not limited to the following namely: -
(i) Reality shows.
(ii) TV serials.
(iii) News and informative media.
(iv) Movies.
(v) OTT platforms.
(vi) Content on Social Media Platforms.
(vii) Performing arts.
(viii)Advertising.
(ix) Any other kind of involvement of children in commercial entertainment activities.
• These Guidelines shall apply to any relevant institution comprising of but not limited to companies, organization/s, or individual/s involved in producing and broadcasting such material/content along with the concerned Central and State Government authorities.
• The following General Principles shall be followed namely: -
(i) Principle of dignity and worth
(ii) Principle of participation
(iii) Principle of best interest:
(iv) Principle of family responsibility
(v) Principle of safety
(vi) Principles of natural justice
(vii) Principle of right to privacy and confidentiality
(viii)Principle of equality and non-discrimination
(ix) Principle of non-waiver of rights
(x) Principle of non-stigmatizing semantic
(xi) Positive measures
(xii) Principle of safety
• Chapter 2 lays down the provisions related to General Safeguard
• Chapter 3 states the provisions related to the Social Media Intermediaries and Significant Social Media Intermediaries
• Chapter 4 incorporates the provisions related to News and Media
• Chapter 5 contains the provisions related to Advertisements
• Chapter 6 states the provisions pertaining to Penalties and Offences
• Chapter 7 deals with the provisions related to Inspection and Complaints
• Chapter 8 states the Duties of the Monitoring Authorities
• Chapter 9 lays down the provisions related to the Sensitization and Awareness Tr
