The Ministry of Steel on June 05, 2023, published the Draft Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2023
This shall come into force on the date specified in the Official Gazette
The following has been stated namely: -
• This Order shall apply to steel and steel products specified in column of Table 1, and shall not apply to such products meant for export.
• It states that Every Steel and Steel product specified in this order shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018
• It states the criteria for Conformity to standards
• It states that The sub-standard or defective steel and steel products, which do not conform to the specified standard, shall be disposed of as scrap as per the scheme of testing and inspection of the Bureau of Indian Standards.
• It states that the Bureau shall be the certifying and enforcing authority in respect of the steel and steel products, goods, and articles specified in this order.
• It states that Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this Order shall be punishable under Section 29 of the Act.
• It further states that When any amendment or revision is made by the Bureau to any of the Indian Standards specified in Table 1, such amendment or revision shall apply to this order with effect from the date notified by the Bureau on this behalf.
